Passionate and Caring
We are justly proud of our dedicated and caring team at The Rocking Horse Nursery. Comprising of a mix of ages and personalities, and some being parents and grandparents themselves, they have a real understanding of what you, as a parent, want and expect from a daycare nursery.
With a wealth of collective experience and through the team’s in-house and external training we can ensure that your child receives the best possible levels of care, support and tailored development that the nursery has to offer.
Our aim is to support you and your little ones and to help nurture their individual progression in preparation for school and the years ahead. We regularly review ideas and support each other in our passion for childcare.
Our staff are well qualified - some to Foundation Degree in Early Years level, DBS (Police) checked and first aid trained.
Parents and Carers as partners
You can always be sure of a warm welcome when you visit The Rocking Horse Nursery. From induction, settling in, reassuring daily updates and informal chats, parents are encouraged and invited to be involved from day one of their child’s time with us.
Every child has a designated member of staff to act as the child’s ‘Key Person’. The Key Person is typically a member of staff that the child has shown an immediate liking to. The Key Person is there to help your child to settle into their new surroundings and to assist them on their individual ‘Learning Journey’.
Your child’s progress is recorded in their ‘Learning Journey’ booklet and we encourage parents to periodically take the booklet away and add to it at home.
Our annual events calendar includes charity fund raising, fun days and parent evenings which are great ways to help build strong and mutually beneficial relationships between parents and their child’s carers at the nursery. Parents are also welcome and invited to come and help at one of their child’s sessions. We do, however, recognise that it may not be possible to engage in daily conversations with your child’s Key Person which is why we also offer you the opportunity to book an appointment to discuss your child with their Key Person or Room Leader.
The Rocking Horse Nursery also has a ‘Sharing Wall’ where the children can put up and share news about them, their family or any fun and interesting events.
Listening and learning
The Rocking Horse Nursery encourages feedback from its customers and our suggestion box and questionnaires are designed to allow you to tell us what you think and to put forward any thoughts you might have regarding our facilities or the service we offer. Alternatively, we’re also more than happy to chat face-to-face in the privacy of our meeting room, if you prefer?
Either way, we welcome input and ideas in our quest to continually evolve and enhance the childcare and learning experiences we provide.
Keeping you informed
Aside from your child’s daily updates, their Learning Journey booklets, and the nursery’s Sharing Wall, The Rocking Horse Nursery produces periodical newsletters to keep you informed of any news and events that we feel might be of benefit for you to know - including any changes in government legislation, changes to our services and staff news.
For more regular news, our Facebook page is an ideal way for parents to keep abreast of, and comment on, our daily activities.
Following its most recent appraisal of The Rocking Horse Nursery, Ofsted summarised as follows:
‘Staff are kind and caring and develop secure attachments with all children. This helps to support children's emotional well-being. Children's behaviour is good. They play well together and benefit from staff being positive role models.’
