Erected in a corner of our fully enclosed, all-weather surface garden is the latest addition to The Rocking Horse Nursery’s outdoor learning facilities. The Literacy Hut is a fully insulated outdoor building that allows it to be used all-year round. This new facility offers a dedicated learning environment to support the 7 areas of learning of the Early years foundation stage (Eyfs).
The Rocking Horse Nursery Allotment Club allows our children to grow and taste their own fruit and vegetables. Our Allotment Club sessions have proved immensely popular and give the children the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while learning and developing new skills.
In the Pre-School Room we are always trying to prepare the children ready for school. This year we
are doing P.E. lessons on a Monday morning and Thursday afternoon. We feel this would be a great activity to take part in as it will allow the children to learn to dress and undress ready for the lesson, grow in confidence, strength, coordination and enhance their flexibility. Continue reading
The Rocking Horse Nursery Allotment Club allows children the freedom, support, independence and time to explore. Growing and tending to plants and flowers or even just examining leaves and soil helps your little one start to understand about life cycles and where food comes from.

Forest School allows children to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on experiences in a natural woodland environment. They have the freedom to direct their own learning and enter into a certain amount of ‘risky-play’.
Yoga is a great activity for our Tweenies and Pre-School children to take part in as it allows them to grow in confidence, strength, coordination and enhances their flexibility. The sessions are run by qualified yoga instructor, Julie Bickerton, otherwise known as ‘Baby Nomad’.
